The Pros The Cons and the Perks

After 2 triathlon camping trips at Ga state parks and we spent most of the time crammed in our 2 man REI Tent that has been the best tent we have never had a leak till it was trampled by a flock of ducks ( don't ask).. Well being miserably hot and muggy and trapped by rain in a 2 man tent we started to think the unthinkable maybe we should think about getting a camper as our little has requested several times, cause she likes camping in my aunt Wanda's camper... But hubby would respond no way that's not "real" camping. BUT I have ALWAYS loved old vintage campers and wanted one just for my yard as an art studio... It was a good sign that hubby was finally warming up to the idea of camping in a camper or it could have been delirium from over heating lol what ever it was I was super excited that he was coming around :)
The Pros The Cons and the Perks
We could go camping all year round in almost all wether, and we always have a spare home that can go almost any where road trips should not be a problem finding a room, our kid may like camping better, so with dreams of world traveling in my head, Mr. Rational Reality aka Keith had to bring up the cost of the unit, insurance, and tags and being a sell out and not real camping.. But we didn't think about a few things we have found increased gas cost and you need stuff for your camper! Like hoses water filter and water regulators the dreaded stinky slinky (swear hook up hose the waste has to go some where! Ick so our bathroom will be a closet lol), surge protecter and I think there are a few other things that yA need and it's a great idea to has a storage building for when it's not In use! (Ps some insurance require one) it's a Good thing we camped in tents and hammocks before cause we have backpacking and other camping gear items on hand :) sleeping bags cookware and eating utensils lol and I didn't at all take in account of all the cool/nifty stuff and possibilities of Glamping ;) the struggle is real and for sure are 1st world problems..
If you are interested in a list of things needed for campers Pinterest has lots of list and even set up breakdown and a check list for items so you won't forget stuff but for the life of me I still will leave something behind LOL

Until next time remember to Leave No Trace!!!!

Introduction to Us

This blog is to keep up with me and my family on our adventures. I hope you enjoy reading as we journey along to where the wind may take us! but i have to warn you i have a touch of dyslexia and I don't have great grammar skills so be warned you will find mistakes probably quite often.

I have had several people tell me I should write a book with all my tales, so I figured a blog will be the next best thing. I have kicked the idea around for a blog for a long time i have a small hobby farm with goats chickens ducks and bees and we try to grow our own food in hopes to add pigs and aquaponics system later.  I could never decide what to blog about until finally in may I got a reason to blog.

And that reasons name is Ruckus the bad apple. Ruckus is a camper, he's not your everyday run of the mill modernday box camper. Oh no he is much more than that he's a reissue of the 1961 Shasta Airflyte canned ham campers and only 1941 were made for Shasta's 75th anniversary. So lucky me to be able to get one of these limited editions gems, or so I thought!

I dont want to make huge long post and lose people with miles of text so im breaking up my past few months into a few post. I will give the backstory to our deciding to leave our trusty tent and our handy hammocks behind and moving into a Travel Trailer, buying my camper and then get into our trips and current events...

until then my outdoor wisdom for the day is: Keep it better than you find it!
